The green gym is a project run by TCV (The Conservation Volunteers). They have recently started a project supported by Southampton Healthy Living. The Green Gym is all about improving physical and mental wellbeing.
Green Gym is at two locations in Southampton weekly on Mondays at Jurds Lake in Woolston, and on Wednesdays at Nursling Plantation in Lordshill. Sessions run from 11am-2pm, with a refreshment break.
The sessions are an opportunity for people to get more active in an outdoors, while carrying out valuable conservation work to improve the local environment. They are run in a friendly, social way, with plenty of opportunity for participants to get to know new people, and also to work at their own pace. Sessions are free of charge, and tea, coffee and a snack is provided, along with tools, equipment and gloves are provided. Participants should wear outdoor or old clothing suitable for the weather, and sturdy footwear. They may also be able to lend out boots if required. People with additional support needs are welcome to attend with a carer.
They are looking for more people to take part in the project. Their web pages have more information about the sessions and about Green Gym in general.
The new group for 16-24 year olds starts Thursday 1st November, 6pm until 8pm. It takes place at Board in the City on Onslow road. See the flyer below for more details.
On Wednesday 3rd October between 1- 4 pm there will be archery, climbing and bush craft course at Woodmill. Please contact Julie if you are interested, there are a few places left

It is World Mental Health Day on Wednesday 10th October and Creative Options will be taking part at the events being held at the 3rd Age Centre. Our choir 'with a song in mind' will be performing, there will be hand-massages with Julie, a mindfulness session and we shall have photos on display from the 'Hampshire Festival of the Mind' as well as the drone footage of the 'walk of hope'.
Emma will be doing a 'create and prosper' workshop table and will be bringing the 'hope' fishes for people to make. We shall also have a table with the 'products of hope' and our leaflets.
We would like help with manning the stalls, so if you wouldn't mind doing that please get in touch and let us know.
Please note there will be no drop-in that day (10/10/18) as we are supporting this event instead.
